Summary: Liberation Nuts, the first and only 100% fair-trade nut company has created a series of educational podcasts to celebrate the upcoming celebration of the naming of London as a fair trade city on the 23rd of October as well as its Annual General Meeting on the 28th of September, 2008. The event will bring together the Nut Growers that directly own Liberation in Kerala. The series highlights how being part of Liberation helps improve the lives of the nut farmers in the poorer parts of the world by featuring the issues that they face in their communities. Being a part of this company allows Farmers to secure better prices for their crops while injecting invaluable revenue into the their communities in turn supporting education, cultural pursuits, medical aid thus increasing their well being. Nearly half (42%) of the company is owned directly by nut farmers and gatherers from Malawi, Mozambique, Nicaragua, India, El Salvador, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia, allowing them to manage the marketing, promotion, sale and export with the guidance of their UK counterparts, Twin Trading and Equal Exhange. Set up in 2007 by leading fair trade organizations Twin Trading and Equal Exchange, with the financial backing of charitable organizations like Comic Relief, The Hunter Foundation and ethical investors. Liberation helps more than 22,000 small-holder producers and their families lifting their ways out of poverty.
